Our journey
What began as a hobby quickly grew into a Commercial Apiary, focused on raising and selling quality Queens and NUCs to local beekeepers. As we grew in both experience and size, we recognized the need to be intentional about the honey bee genetics in our apiary. We knew our customers would want the same: strong brood buildup, high honey production, desirable temperament, longevity, and especially mite resistance.
In early 2024, we reached out to VP Queen Bees, located in Iva, SC. Adam and Kelly have many years of experience in a proven VSH queen breeding program. They provide artificially inseminated mite resistant VSH Breeder Queens to large commercial beekeeping operations. The characteristics selectively bred for at VP Queen Bees match what we want to provide our customers. After coordination with Adam and Kelly, we agreed that Berry Lane Bees would raise open mated queens from VP Queen Bees breeder queens for Berry Lane Bees' queen rearing and NUC operations.
Starting Spring 2025, all our queens, including queens in our NUCs, will be open mated queens grafted from VP Queen Bees VSH breeders.
